Aluminium and zinc alloy die casting specialist, LENAAL Sp. z o.o. Sp. k., plans to increase casting capacity in 2024 - focusing heavily on the production of EV components. It’s using digital, dosing, and melting solutions from StrikoWestofen to support this goal.

Improved dosing efficiency with MONITIZER | Refill Monitor

LENAAL’s existing casting lines process approximately 4000 tons of aluminium per month, enabling the business to cast high quality industrial components for an international customer base. To keep up with increasing demand, especially from the e-mobility sector, the Polish company is set to install a further lines mid-term.

Seeking a production uplift by early next year, LENAAL has already been looking at where it can achieve significant efficiency and productivity gains today. Adopting MONITIZER | Refill Monitor, - a cloud-based solution which uses sensor data to continuously check furnace fill levels against the metal consumption of the die casting process - is one of the measures it has introduced.

Marcin Suwala, LENAAL’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “With Monitizer | Refill Monitor, the melting department team no longer have to go to the foundry hall to check the metal content in the dosing furnaces. Instead, all the information they need is presented via dashboards shown on a display screen – detailing the order furnaces need to be refilled and metal volumes required. We fill what’s needed, exactly when it’s needed without wasting any time. It really is a great supporting tool for optimizing foundry operations and improving efficiency.

“Additionally, our engineering team uses the dashboards to monitor dosing furnace operation, detect errors and irregularities – for example metal temperature variations. They receive emails with the furnace is not operating. “As a result, we’ve already noticed significant efficiency gains due to the elimination of machine downtime. This solution will definitely help us achieve our productivity targets.”

Furnaces that fit sustainability and productivity needs

Something else that will help LENAAL in its mission for growth is StrikoWestofen’ s expert engineering.

Having used StrikoMelter and Westomat furnaces for many years, the company trusts the StrikoWestofen furnace technology to meet its evolving needs. Marcin continued: “We will be adding more furnaces from StrikoWestofen as part of our growth plans. There are good reasons for this. For example, in addition to loving StrikoMelter large load capacity, a major advantage for us is the excellent melting efficiency it delivers in relation to gas taken from the mains. We have observed lower exhaust emissions compared to older furnaces – ideal for a more sustainable production.

“Our Westomat furnaces are just as beneficial. Using them significantly reduces the work cycle of casting parts on our die casting machines, and Westomat also has excellent reliability in terms of uptime. In my view, you could say it’s a child’s play to operate them.

A partnership for the future

With over 30 years of experience in high-pressure die casting of aluminium and zinc alloys, LENAAL has built an impressive reputation for quality. With a very modern approach to industrial processes, the company prides itself on investing in stand-out production and digital innovations that deliver tangible business benefits.

Marcin said: “We serve over 80 different customers spread across Europe and the United States. To do that successfully, we will only work with technology partners that have the same high standards as us. That applies to StrikoWestofen. And not just in relation to the machines and digital solutions they offer. We can always count on their highly knowledgeable and professional team to provide the technical support we need, whenever we need it.”
